2017–2025 L5P Duramax EGR Delete Kit with 3.5" Downpipe
This L5P EGR delete kit with 3.5-inch downpipe is built for 2017–2025 Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra 2500HD/3500HD trucks equipped with the 6.6L L5P Duramax diesel engine. The combination removes the factory EGR valve and cooler while replacing the restrictive turbo outlet pipe with a larger 3.5-inch stainless steel downpipe.
For off-road and competition L5P builds, the EGR delete components help prevent exhaust soot from being recirculated through the intake, while the larger downpipe provides a smoother exhaust path after the turbocharger. Together, they support a cleaner engine-bay layout, reduced exhaust restriction, improved turbo response, and a stronger foundation for a properly tuned L5P build.
Important: This product changes factory emissions equipment. A DPF-delete-capable tuner is required when installing the EGR delete to prevent check-engine lights and diagnostic trouble codes. This product is intended for off-road / competition use where legally permitted.
Who This L5P EGR Delete + Downpipe Kit Is For
- 2017–2025 Chevrolet Silverado/GMC Sierra 2500HD / 3500HD owners with the 6.6L L5P Duramax.
- Off-road or competition builds removing the factory EGR valve and cooler.
- Owners upgrading the restrictive factory turbo outlet with a larger 3.5-inch downpipe.
- Tuned L5P builds where soot accumulation, exhaust restriction, and under-hood heat management are priorities.
What This Kit Changes
| Component | What It Replaces | Main Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| EGR Delete Kit | Factory EGR valve and cooler assembly | Stops exhaust gas from being routed back through the intake and removes EGR-related soot buildup points |
| 3.5"" Downpipe | Factory turbo outlet / downpipe | Provides a larger, smoother exhaust path after the turbocharger to reduce restriction |
Note: This is an EGR delete + downpipe combination. It is not a complete DPF delete exhaust system unless additional DPF-delete components are purchased separately.
Key Features
- Optimized Exhaust Flow: Large 3.5-inch bore outperforms stock piping, slashing turbo lag and sharpening throttle response for instant power delivery.
- Turbo Spool Enhancement: Accelerates exhaust gas exit, cuts backpressure, and lets the turbine spin faster—boosting boost output and overall engine performance.
- Removes OEM Bottlenecks: Replaces the restrictive factory downpipe, eliminating the exhaust choke point and laying a solid base for tuning and higher boost.
- Durable High-Temp Build: Crafted from premium stainless steel with corrosion resistance, ensuring lasting reliability under extreme exhaust heat conditions.
- Advanced EGR Cooling Design: Engineered for faster, more efficient coolant recirculation. Features billet aluminum, nickel-plated steel, silicone hoses, zinc hardware, and precision O-rings.

Choose the Correct Downpipe for Your L5P
The EGR delete kit covers the verified 2017–2025 L5P Duramax platform, but the matching 3.5-inch downpipe configuration differs by model year. Select the version that matches your truck before ordering.
- 2017–2019 L5P: Select the 2017–2019 downpipe configuration.
- 2020–2025 L5P: Select the 2020–2025 downpipe configuration.
Do not select the downpipe only by engine displacement. Confirm your truck's year, L5P engine code, make, and model before installation.
Stock L5P Setup vs. EGR Delete + 3.5" Downpipe
| Area | Factory Configuration | EGR Delete + 3.5" Downpipe |
|---|---|---|
| EGR Flow | Recirculates part of the exhaust stream through the intake | Removes EGR valve and cooler from a tuned off-road build |
| Soot Exposure | Exhaust soot can accumulate through the EGR/intake system | Stops EGR exhaust flow from being routed back through the intake |
| Turbo Outlet | Factory downpipe | 3.5-inch high-flow downpipe |
| Exhaust Restriction | Factory routing and diameter | Larger, smoother turbo outlet path |
| Heat Management | Factory system | Downpipe heat wrap helps control radiant heat |
| Calibration | Factory emissions calibration | Compatible delete tuning required |
What to Expect After Installation
Removing the EGR system stops exhaust gas from being recirculated through the intake, while the larger downpipe reduces restriction immediately after the turbocharger. On a properly configured off-road build, this combination can support more responsive turbo operation and reduce EGR-related soot accumulation.
Actual horsepower, torque, fuel economy, EGT, boost response, and exhaust sound depend on the tune, remaining exhaust components, turbocharger setup, vehicle condition, load, and driving conditions. No fixed horsepower, MPG, boost, or temperature improvement is claimed.
Tuning Requirement
A compatible delete-capable tune is required. The EGR system is electronically monitored by the factory ECU. Removing the EGR valve and cooler without the appropriate calibration can cause a check-engine light and diagnostic trouble codes.
This product does not include a universal promise that every tuner, CAN BUS solution, or calibration will work with every 2017–2025 truck. Confirm tuning compatibility for your exact model year before beginning the installation.
