6.6L Duramax Downpipe for LLY, LBZ, LMM, LML and L5P
Replace the restrictive factory turbo downpipe with a year-specific, catless Duramax downpipe engineered to support 20–25% more exhaust flow, reduce backpressure, sharpen turbo response and help lower exhaust gas temperatures. The LLY, LBZ, LMM and LML configurations use a 3-inch pipe, while the L5P configuration uses a 3.5-inch pipe.
Tuning is required for every configuration. A compatible diesel tune must be installed before operating the truck with this catless downpipe. Confirm that tuning support is available for your exact model year, ECM and complete emissions setup before purchase.

Key Features
-
20–25% more exhaust flow: The larger, smoother flow path helps move exhaust away from the turbine more efficiently than the restrictive factory downpipe.
-
Reduced restriction and backpressure: Faster exhaust-gas evacuation allows the turbo to spin more freely and supports improved boost response and power with the required tuning.
-
Sharper turbo response: The larger internal diameter helps reduce turbo lag and improve throttle response.
-
Supports lower EGTs: Improved exhaust flow helps manage exhaust gas temperature under towing, sustained load and performance use.
-
Stainless steel construction: TIG-welded construction provides heat resistance, corrosion resistance and long-term durability.
-
Direct-fit design: Each configuration is designed to connect to the corresponding factory turbocharger and downstream exhaust interface.
-
Silver and black finishes: Silver versions use a polished or raw stainless finish; black versions use a high-temperature coated finish where offered.

6.6 Duramax Downpipe Benefits
The downpipe on your turbocharged vehicle is directing the exhaust gases out of the turbine housing into the exhaust system. An aftermarket downpipe will typically be larger in diameter and either use a high-flow catalytic converter or remove the catalytic converter altogether.
By removing the factory downpipe and replacing it with a high-flow aftermarket downpipe, you are allowing your Duramax turbo to more efficiently move gases away from the turbine, which creates more power.
Important Notes
-
Tuning Required: A compatible diesel tune is mandatory for every listed configuration and must be installed before the vehicle is operated with this catless downpipe.
-
Off-Road / Competition Use Only: This catless product is not intended for public-highway use and is not represented as CARB- or EPA-certified.
-
Check Local Laws: Confirm all federal, state and local requirements before purchasing or installing the product.
-
Pickup Models Only: The listed configurations do not fit Cab & Chassis trucks.
-
Professional Installation Recommended: Exhaust components operate at high temperatures and have limited installation clearance. Incorrect installation can cause leaks, vibration, sensor damage or contact with nearby components.
-
Factory-Turbo Fitment: Fitment is based on the corresponding factory turbocharger and exhaust connections. Aftermarket turbo or custom exhaust compatibility must be checked separately.
Review the DPFexhaust product-use notice before purchase and installation.

Fitment Checks Before Ordering
- For a 2007 truck, verify whether it is an LBZ or a 2007.5 LMM using the VIN, emissions label or build information.
- For a 2015 truck, determine whether it uses the 2011–2015 configuration or the revised 2015.5–2016 configuration.
- Do not select by pipe diameter alone. The 2011–2015 and 2015.5–2016 LML variants are both 3 inch but use different turbo-side connections.
- Confirm that the truck is a pickup rather than a Cab & Chassis model.
- Check aftermarket turbochargers, custom exhaust systems and non-factory connections individually before ordering.
Duramax Downpipe Installation
Professional installation is recommended. Each version is designed as a direct-fit downpipe for its corresponding factory turbo application, but access around the turbo and firewall can be limited. Use the correct service information and torque specifications for the selected model year.
Before Installation
- Confirm the selected year group, engine code, turbo-side flange and downstream connection.
- Confirm that a compatible diesel tune is ready. Do not operate the truck with this catless downpipe before the required tuning is installed.
- Allow the exhaust system to cool completely and support the vehicle safely before working underneath it.
- Have new gaskets, supplied clamps and mounting hardware ready. Do not reuse a damaged or compressed exhaust gasket.
- For versions with sensor provisions, have the appropriate sensor socket and penetrating oil available.
General Installation Sequence
- Verify the new downpipe against the factory pipe before removing components.
- Apply penetrating oil to the factory flange fasteners, clamps and applicable sensor threads.
- Disconnect and remove applicable sensors without twisting or damaging their wiring.
- Remove the factory downpipe and old sealing components.
- Position the new downpipe with the correct new gasket, clamp(s) and supplied hardware.
- Check flange alignment and clearance around wiring, hoses, heat shields, transmission components and bodywork before tightening.
- Reinstall applicable sensors and reconnect all wiring.
- Install the required compatible tune before operating the truck.
- Start the engine and inspect for exhaust leaks, contact, vibration, abnormal noise and diagnostic trouble codes.
Post-Install Checks
- Recheck the flange and clamp areas after the first complete heat cycle.
- Confirm that the pipe and heat wrap do not contact wiring, hoses or surrounding components.
- Investigate any exhaust leak, rattle, warning light or new diagnostic code rather than continuing to operate the truck.
Duramax Downpipe FAQs
Q: Which versions use a 3-inch downpipe?
A: The 2004.5–2010 LLY/LBZ/LMM, 2011–2015 LML and 2015.5–2016 LML options use a 3-inch pipe.
Q: Which version uses the 3.5-inch downpipe?
A: The 2017–2025 L5P configuration uses the 3.5-inch downpipe. Choose the 2017+ product option.
Q: What is the difference between the two LML options?
A: Both are 3 inch, but the 2011–2015 and 2015.5–2016 configurations have different turbo-side connections. The later version uses its own upgraded 3-bolt turbo-side flange, V-band outlet and sensor layout, so the two options should not be treated as interchangeable.
Q: Is tuning required?
A: Yes. A compatible diesel tune is required for every configuration and must be installed before the truck is operated with this catless downpipe. The tuner and tuning license are not included.
Q: How much more exhaust flow does the downpipe provide?
A: The larger, smoother flow path is designed to provide 20–25% more exhaust flow than the restrictive factory downpipe while reducing backpressure and supporting quicker turbo response.
Q: Is this a complete turbo-back or DPF-delete exhaust system?
A: No. This listing is for the turbo downpipe and its applicable installation components. It is not a complete turbo-back or downpipe-back exhaust system and does not include a tuner unless the selected option specifically states otherwise.
Q: Does it fit Cab & Chassis trucks?
A: No. The listed downpipes fit compatible Silverado and Sierra 2500HD/3500HD pickup models only.
Q: Will it work with an aftermarket turbo?
A: Fitment is based on the corresponding factory turbocharger and exhaust connections. Compare the flange, outlet, routing and clearance before ordering for an aftermarket-turbo or custom-exhaust setup.
Q: Is this downpipe legal for street use?
A: No. This is a catless off-road/competition-use product and is not intended for operation on public highways. Check all laws applicable to your location and intended use.
